A soda bottle is filled with water and turned upside-down. Amazingly, the water remains in the bottle.
Secret: A small, transparent cap that snugly fits the bottle is secretly placed over the top. The cap has a small hole in the centre, allowing items to be pushed into the bottle.
It is atmospheric pressure that stops the water running out. Hide the small plastic cap in your right hand. Fill the soda bottle with water and hold it in your left hand. Place your right hand over the top, secretly placing the cap over the mouth of the bottle.
Carefully turn the bottle upside-down and take your right hand away from it. A few drops of water may drip out, but the rest will stay suspended in the bottle!
In this position, it is possible to push a cocktail stick or other small items through the hole in the plastic and watch it eerily float up inside the bottle. At the end of the trick, place your right hand over the plastic cap and turn the bottle the right way up again. Secretly remove the cap and hand the bottle out for examination.
