xx Marvin's Top Tips xx

Practice
Always practice your tricks in front of a mirror before you perform for an audience. Practice, practice, practice – it will really help you perform confidently!

Know What You Are Going to Say
Your show will be even more entertaining if you know what to say and when! Give yourself time to devise and rehearse the words (known as “patter”) and your show will flow better.

Perform at the Right Pace
Make sure you pace your performance correctly, and keep your tricks concise, entertaining and amazing!

Never Repeat a Trick
Unless a trick has been specifically designed to be repeated, never perform it more than once during a show. Repeating a trick may give your audience another chance to figure out the secret.

Know When to Stop
When you know lots of tricks, it is very tempting to try and impress your audience by racing through your entire repertoire. Always leave your audience wanting more.

Magic at your Fingertips!
Close-up magic is a visual show for your audience. Everyone will be looking very closely at your hands and fingers, so make sure your hands and nails are spotlessly clean.

Never Reveal the Secret!
Now you’re a magician, our magician’s code is never to reveal the secret! If you treasure these secrets, you will have years of fun and entertainment at your fingertips.

Enjoy Your Magic!
Magic is a wonderful hobby. When you perform well, you will bring happiness and astonishment to yourself and your audience. Enjoy the applause and praise you will receive – and remember to smile and have fun!
