xx Marvin teaches Dynamic Coins xx

This beautiful, precision-made brass trick enables you to perform an amazing and unbelievable sequence of effects with coins. Make them appear, disappear and even transform – it’s a real reputation maker!

Preparation: Inside each cap there is a fake coin stack. These fake stacks are so well hidden that you may initially believe they are missing from your set. They are not! To remove the fake stacks you must do the following:

Place the ring onto the narrow section of one of the caps and then sharply tap the cap onto a flat, solid surface, hard enough to dislodge the secret stack.

If the stack does not appear then simply tap harder until it does.

Note: The stack will not appear if the ring is not on the cap.

The secret stack looks like four coins. To complete the illusion, you should place a matching, real coin on top of the stack. This will create a perfect illusion of five silver coins.

Repeat the process with the other cap so that you now apparently have two stacks of five coins. Replace the caps over the stacks (so they disappear back inside) and you are ready to begin performing magic!

The following six tricks can either be performed separately or combined to create a stunning routine!

The Money Making Machine

Before you begin, ensure that both stacks are loose in their caps so they will come out easily. This means you will not have to ‘bang’ the caps on the table to release them.

Display the ring and both caps face-up on the table.

Pick up the ring and place it onto one of the caps. Turn this cap over and place it face-down on the table (secretly allowing the fake stack to dislodge from the cap).

Make a magical gesture over the cap and ring, then dramatically lift them together to reveal the money that has magically appeared!

Money Transfer

This trick carries straight on from the first effect. With the stack of coins already on the table, remove the ring from the cap then place this cap face-down on the table.

Place the ring on the second cap, then turn this face-down onto the table (secretly dislodging the second stack). Do not reveal these coins just yet! Pick up the original cap and cover the first stack of coins. Tell your audience that you are going to make the coins magically travel!

Gently press down on the first cap (pushing the stack into the cap) and then roll it face-up to reveal that the coins have vanished. Now lift up the second cap (along with the ring) to show that the coins have apparently travelled and reappeared under the second cap!

Solid Through Solid

This time you are going to make the coins travel through solid brass! Leaving the fake stack on the table, place the ring once more on the first cap and turn it face-down to secretly dislodge the coins. Now pick up the visible fake stack and place it on top of the first cap and ring.

Pick up the second (empty) cap and place it on top of the stack, pressing gently down on the cap. Now when you lift the top cap, the coins will have vanished!  When you lift up the bottom cap and ring, your audience will discover that the coins have melted right through the cap and appeared on the table!

The Spectator’s Hand

This is a spectacular stunt that is guaranteed to impress. However, it does require you to be ‘in control’ of your spectator, as you do not want him or her to make any sudden movements.

Ask the spectator to hold out their palm and keep it steady. Take the stack of coins from the table and place it on the spectator’s hand. Pretend to balance the coins (as if they are loose and not one solid stack) and ask the spectator to keep very still so they don’t drop the coins.

Pick up the empty cap and place it over the stack of coins. Now ask the spectator to grip the coins as hard as possible, so that no one will be able to steal them.

With the coins securely held by the spectator, pick up the other cap and ring. Place the ring on the cap and turn them face-down onto the table (so the stack of coins is secretly released).

Give a magic wave over the spectator’s hand and ask them to open it slowly. Take the cap from the spectator’s hand and display that the coins have vanished! Place this full cap face-up on the table.

Lift the other cap and ring to reveal the stack of coins has re-appeared on the table.

The Transforming Coins

The first four effects of this routine can all be performed with just one hand. This means that your other hand can secretly hold some smaller coins. At the end of ‘The Spectator’s Hand’, you will have plenty of time to pick up the fake stack and casually place it on top of the hidden coins in your other hand. With the smaller coins hidden inside the fake stack, place the stack onto the face-up cap (which already has a hidden stack inside it). Then, cover the stack with the empty cap and ring.

One last magical gesture and your coins will shrink. Lift the cap to reveal the smaller coins. An astonishing trick!

A Sweet Trick

A fun alternative to changing the coins at the end of the routine is to transform the coins into sweets or peppermints. The sudden transformation is both startling and amazing. A genuinely sweet trick!
